Are you ready to combine your knowledge and passion for chemistry/material science with impactful sustainable projects, guiding them from product development to implementation?

As a Project Manager you will be involved in executing and coordinating sustainable R&D projects. These projects focus on developing new/improved products, processes, and applications in the field of bituminous waterproofing membranes. Examples include using recycled and sustainable raw materials as alternatives to current resources, resulting in products with a lower carbon footprint. You will closely collaborate with various production sites, internal departments (such as Sales and Marketing), and multiple external parties. The Project Manager R&D is part of the Technical Center for BMI Group. Your base will be our production site in Groningen, but you will also support various production sites within the BMI group. This means you will travel to BMI locations across Europe approximately once a month for ongoing projects.

OUR OFFER

This is a full-time position (minimum 36 hours depending on your availability) with the flexibility to work partially from home. When working full-time, you will have 37 days off. We offer an immediate (permanent) contract. You will receive a competitive salary for this role. Additionally, you will get a one month bonus, a comprehensive pension plan and travel expense reimbursement. YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Project Manager you will be involved in executing and coordinating sustainable R&D projects (50%). In addition, you are responsible for research work in the laboratory (50%).

  • Preparing, coordinating and executing R&D projects in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders (such as universities and research institutes) and implementing innovations;

  • Planning and managing R&D projects from start to finish, including setting project goals, timelines, and budgets;

  • Drafting and presenting project reports and product and process specifications based on research results;

  • Conducting laboratory work related to the projects, including testing, analysing and validating new sustainable raw materials;

  • Keeping up with developments in the field and market by reading professional literature/patents, attending events and conferences and liaising with suppliers and customers.

YOUR CANDIDATE PROFILE

The ideal candidate has:

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in applied chemistry, applied materials science, or a similar field;

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills (various internal and external stakeholders) and can successfully lead and guide projects to sustainable results through motivation, teamwork and leadership;

  • Excellent project management and organisational skills, with strong problem analysis and solution-oriented thinking;

  • Some experience in a similar project-based role. If you are a recent graduate with the required educational background and mentioned soft skills, feel free to apply!

  • Knowledge of recycled materials, bitumen (technology), waterproofing products or related materials (preferred not required);

  • Proficiency in English at a professional level, both spoken and written (required). Additionally, basic proficiency in Dutch is advantageous;
